HART
Beep is partnering with the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit to bring a self-driving shuttle to the Marion Street transitway and the scenic Tampa Riverwalk in downtown Tampa.
The HART SMART AV program launched with Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) in Tampa. It is the first, fully-electric automated vehicle pilot in the Tampa Bay region funded by the Florida Department of Transportation. Beep is partnering with HART to bring the self-driving shuttles testing in various environments including the Marion Street transitway and the scenic Tampa Riverwalk.
Marion Transitway Route
The service runs Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm using two NAVYA shuttles. The free shuttle offers four stops along the urban corridor and provides a first-mile, last-mile connection between the TECO Line Streetcar and the Marion Transit Center along North Marion Street. The vehicle is equipped with an ADA compliant ramp, a Q’Straint system, and onboard monitors that display route connections and a map of the route and stops.
Arts and Riverwalk Route
HART SMART AV is testing a second route stretching from downtown Tampa to Tampa Heights alongside the scenic Tampa Riverwalk. The service runs seven days a week from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm using two NAVYA shuttles. The route provides access to premier community destinations like Armature Works, the Straz Center, and Water Works Park. The vehicle is equipped with an ADA compliant ramp, a Q’Straint system, and onboard monitors that display route connections and a map of the route and stops.
Future plans for HART include testing autonomous vehicles in a variety of environments beyond downtown Tampa and in low density areas within Hillsborough County.
